Overview

Gelateria La Romana, nestled in the heart of Torino on Via Santa Teresa, stands as a beacon for those seeking a genuine Italian gelato experience. This gelateria effortlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with inventive flavors, creating a rich tapestry of taste that beckons both locals and travelers alike.

The heart of Gelateria La Romana is its gelato—creamy, intensely flavorful, and meticulously crafted. Signature offerings like Chocolate with Raspberry Blackberry Blueberry and the delicate Stracciatella e Pistacchio demonstrate the brand’s dedication to balancing classic and bold flavor profiles. Their seasonal selections, such as Zabaione Caldo con Panna and Salted Caramel, further showcase the gelateria’s skill in marrying tradition with creative flair.

Beyond gelato, the menu extends into delightful accompaniments that elevate the experience. The Brioche Siciliana con Gelato Misto is an irresistible treat embracing Sicily's pastry heritage, while offerings like Crepes al Cioccolato con Gelato and Cioccolata Gourmet add a comforting warmth and indulgence that contrast beautifully with the cold creaminess of the ice cream. The inclusion of handcrafted ice cream cakes and crumbles adds a celebratory note for those eager to savor the texture and depth of artisanal sweets.

Visitors repeatedly commend not only the gelato’s quality but also the efficiency and warmth of the staff. Despite its popularity, long queues move swiftly, and service remains friendly and attentive. The gelateria maintains a cozy yet lively ambiance, capturing the essence of Turin’s vibrant street culture without overwhelming its guests.

This spot appeals to an eclectic audience: from gelato connoisseurs intrigued by exotic pistachio blends and rich classics like Crema dal 1947, to families and tourists eager to explore authentic Italian flavors. While some express a preference for more intimate, smaller-scale gelaterias, Gelateria La Romana’s reputation for consistent quality and welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit destination.

For those drawn to culinary craftsmanship in a social, bustling setting, Gelateria La Romana offers an authentic slice of Italian gelateria tradition. Whether indulging in a chocolate-dipped cone or savoring seasonal flavors, guests leave with a genuine taste of Torino’s sweet heritage.

Stopped by based on a recommendation - very popular place to get ice cream. The ice was very good but the place was crowded unfortunately. Nice experience but I prefer more the smaller stores for an original Italian ice.

This is not an exaggeration: Gelateria La Romana is, without a doubt, our favorite ice cream shop in all of Italy and quite possibly the entire world. During our six-day stay in Turin, we were so captivated that we went here every single day—and sometimes even twice a day! The gelato here is simply too tasty. We loved that there were so many different flavors to choose from, and we made a point of trying new ones every day. The quality is exceptional, and every single flavor we tried was delicious. Our absolute favorites were Pesto di Pistacchio, Crema dal 1947, Zabaione, Mango, and Mirtillo Nero. And the cherry on top? The chocolate-covered cones are an absolute highlight that takes the experience to another level. Even though the store was always busy and there were long queues, the service was consistently quick and incredibly friendly despite the heavy workload. The staff's efficiency and kindness made every visit a pleasure. We even tried another branch in Turin, but it simply didn't compare to this one. We have been to many gelaterias in Italy, and this one has now surpassed our previous favorite, Gelateria Dondoli in San Gimignano. If you are in Turin, you must, absolutely must try Gelateria La Romana.

The flavors, texture, and taste of the gelato are truly outstanding, and you can feel the careful craftsmanship in every spoonful. Although the place is small, its design creates a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere. Overall, it’s a delightful spot both for its gelato and its ambiance, and you definitely get your money’s worth.

I’ve been here quite a lot, below are images from different occasions. Their ice cream are amazing, especially the winter flavors, and they let us try samples of whatever flavors we want, which I find very useful since I can’t eat things that are too sweet. 3.5€ for 3 flavors is a really good deal honestly. My friend ordered 4 flavors (4€) once and he was struggling to finish it that day. However, the summer flavors (fruit flavors) are not as impressive, I was hoping for something different from fruit ice creams sold in supermarkets but it was very much indistinguishable. But probably I’ve not tried their best summer flavors as I’ve only tried those once. The service is amazing and they speak English as well. I saw a chocolate faucet thingy but I still don’t know what it’s for. I’ll come back for an extra review once I find out!

Loved the place. We tried gelato at the other location of the gelateria la romana so came here to continue our experience. We tried out the cremolatas and later came back to try out yogurts. The cremolatas were refreshing and the yogurts are great since you can choose any three thing to put in it (nuts, seeds, fruits, etc) and then choose any topping (honey, white or dark chocolate, etc). We were not disappointed with the experience and now I can proudly say that this is the best place not only to enjoy great gelato but also to taste anything on their menu. Would definitely recommend!!

One of the best icecream I’ve ever eaten (and I have tried many). You can choose the type of cone you want, and I would strongly recommend the addition of chocolate (either white or black) in it. I’ve tried many tastes and they are all fantastic. The price for an icecream with three tastes is 4€, which fits in the average price in Turin. I would give it 6 stars if that would have been possible. It is a must if you happen to me in the area.
